On October 5th, 2019 the friends and family of Marc “Shockus” Delellis gathered at his favorite skatepark in Ocean Beach, San Diego to remember the life of a great skateboarder and friend. It’s been five years since the passing of our dear homie Marc. Every year on the first Saturday of October we do exactly what he would want us to, skate with our friends, barbeque, and share some brews. This year we here at Shieldless Mag took it upon ourselves to document the event.
For me personally, Shockus was a role model, he was a bigger built dude like myself, unlike your typical skateboarder profile, he worked in the skateboard industry, just as I aspired to do as a young skater, and he gave great advice whether it be about skating or just life in general. Marc made an impact on countless skateboarders in San Diego and around the world, dedicating his life to filming skateboarding and helping grow local and international brands, as well as starting a skate news site of his own Network Skate.
This year we continued the tradition of shredding in the name of Shockus. The beer went down as well as some carnage. Best trick contests ensued with money up for grabs on three different obstacles, including the upside down cement trash can that Marc himself loved to wallie. As always Chris Coogan shut it down, this year with a frontside 360 up the three block. Remember to skate for those who no longer can and always tell your friends you love them. See you next year.
