I was introduced to Matthew Fabiano by our friend Daniel Goycoolea on a skate session in the chaotic streets of downtown SD. Matthew was shooting local legend and Sk8mafia pro Alexis Ramirez. It was a tough spot without a great angle for the photo because the only good option was on the “butt shot” side of the spot for Ramirez being regular footed. This didn’t discourage Fabiano though, he got out front and in close with his fisheye, right in the danger zone for a board shootout, he managed to get Alexis’ face in the awkward angle and the whole spot as well! I was very impressed by his adapting to his environment. After seeing his Instagram and all the local skaters and mutual friends he’s shot with I knew we had to have him on the site! His portraits are intimate and personal and his skate shots are crisp and detailed. His film photos show candid shots of skating with friends and captures the vibe of the streets. I look forward to seeing big things from Fabiano and having more of his images featured on our site in the future!
